IIS Anti-leech Sniffer Dog Help Document
2003 Server Privilege Configuration
Overview
- Related User-Privilege (Set-up is not necessary on Windows 2000)On Windows 2003, you must set up related privilege since IIS 6 requires. Please refer to the special guide below for details of kernel privilege set-up:
- After you finish all the previous installation steps, a "Service Unavailable" mistake may happen if your IIS6 is running in kernel mode or your hard disk privilege setup is incorrect. So please follow the set-up steps following:
- The key point is IIS 6 defaults that progress isolation mode needs related read permissions of
IIS-WPS group, in order to ensure Sniffer Dog running well, please double check if the installation catalog of Sniffer
Dog has enough privilege
- IIS-WPG Group defines low-privilege and user-privilege which is required in the start and running progresses of Web Server. It somewhat like IWAM_computer name user of IIS5, but the privilege is lower. Here we need your attention that
IIS-WPG is not an IUSR_computer name user, so it has nothing to do with the running user of virtual host, and the user authorization of
IIS_WPG will not affect the privilege of FSO too.
- Here is an example of the privilege set-up of Sniffer Dog (we suppose its installation catalog is
c:\program files\universal\UlinkSpy)
Configuration step
First step – Set up basic privilege of the hard disk where installation catalog is (c :\). Assign read permission to IIS_WPG group.

- Click "add"

- Click "advanced"

- Click "find now" search for IIS_WPG, then double click IIS_WPG

- Click "ok" and you will see IIS_WPG in the user name list/group as the window below. Assign read permission to it.

Second step – Set up privilege of installation catalog. Assign permissions to IIS_WPG group
read and execute, List folder contents, read
and write.
- Choose an installation catalog

- Click "add"

- Input "IIS_WPG", click "ok"

- Click "ok" again.

- Re-start IIS. And your privilege set-ups will take effect.
Additional Explanation
- Sniffer Dog defaults the file for visiting does not exist if you never assign permissions to it. So you have to set up privilege to IIS_WPG group when Dog is running.
