Part 1: About feature

• Question: what's the leeching?
  Answer: Unscrupulous site owners may link to your content directly and literally steal your bandwidth. This theft is commonly called leeching, hotlinking, inline linking, or bandwidth theft, and such direct linking to your valuable image, video, binary files or other important site content is typically done without your knowledge, let alone your permission! Now, with IIS Anti-Leech Sniffer Dog, you can fight back and control access to your Web site or Web-based application content and to ensure that your bandwidth use is for your site users only -- keeping out all types of "bad" traffic.

• Question: Dose IIS Anti-Leech Sniff Dog work in all kinds of websites?
  Answer: Sniffer Dog specializes and will be powerful in websites that founded on IIS component. Such as music website, download website, forum, etc.

 

• Question: Will Sniff Dog influence the performance of server?
  Answer: Sniffer Dog almost has no influence on your server. It's one of the most powerful IIS anti-leech software in the market launched 2 years ago. It has been used in many big websites and has a good reputation.

 

• Question: What is the function of bandwidth throttling?
  Answer: bandwidth throttling enables to set up a maximum download speed. It prevents the occupation of bandwidth.
  
• Question: What is the function of anti-download?
  Answer: Some visits attempt to download some important files, for instance, database files, from your website, although they are not allowed to. To prevent it happens, you should use anti-download to prevent specific files you do not want to be downloaded.

 

• Question: What is stream media anti-leech?
  Answer: Stream media refers to Flash, online movie and online music. Sniffer Dog uses a unique 64 encryption to protect the above files.

 

Part 2: About configuration

 

• Question: How to use IIS Anti-Leech Sniff Dog?
  Answer:
  - Single server configuration steps (web server and resource server are same)
  a) Download and install Sniffer Dog
  b) For Server 2003, please configure the privilege of IIS_WPG according to Help doc
  c) Add a resource host
  d) Add domain or IP address of the website you want to protect to host anti-leech list. Setup related parameters to activate anti-leech function. (e.g. if you have 2 virtual hosts, abc.com and cde.com, please add abc.com into anti-leech host list if you want to protect abc.com). Configure it in host configuration list.
  e) Add a web host
  - Multi-servers configuration steps
  a) Download and install Sniffer Dog on web server and resource server
  b) For Server 2003, please configure the privilege of IIS_WPG according to Help doc
  c) Add a resource host on resource server
  d) Add domain or IP address of the website you want to protect to host anti-leech list. Setup related parameters to activate anti-leech function. (e.g. if you have 2 virtual hosts, abc.com and cde.com, please add abc.com into anti-leech host list if you want to protect abc.com). Configure it in host configuration list.
  e) Add a web host on web server

 

• Question: What is the function of LinkSpyFun.asp or Flash.asp which is under the installation catalog?
  Answer: For those online stream media files, Shiffer Dog realizes anti-leech function by using their own modify codes. But for other files, it requires you to configure related parameters.
  
• Question: what's the function of the checkbox "only the websites with encryption key can be visited" in the option of "URL encryption parameter"?
  Answer: If you only want your movies played online but not be downloaded, please choose this option.
  
• Question: Shall I add "www" in front of the URL of the host domain?
  Answer: You'd better add all URLs your visits probably type in. (e.g. add both www.domain.com and domain.com, or you can just put *.domain.com if your top domain has several sub-domains.
  
• Question: What is my host address if it is visited via IP?
  Answer: Just put the IP address into the column of "host address".

 

• Question: How to configure resource server and web server is they are separated?
  Answer: If your resource server and web server are separated, please add web host on web server, and resource host on resource server. Then use the same parameter to encrypt both server and web servers, including encryption code, whether to verify file name and the name of parameter.

 

• Question: How Log Record Level defers?
  Answer: a) Error Lever: Log will be recorded only when critical error happens during the operation process. It is suggested to choose this option.
  b) Warning Level: Log will be recorded when warning and error information founded.
  c) Common Level: All the operation information will be recorded. It is not suggested to choose this option.

Part 3: About purchase

• Question: Do I need to purchase two authorizations if my resource server and web server are separated?
  Answer: You only need to purchase one authorization for resource server.
  
• Question: Domain binding can be installed in different servers?
  Answer: Yes, Sniffer Dog will protect the download IP addresses of the bond domain.
  
• Question: What is the difference between domain binding and server binding?
  Answer: The domain resource will be protected if you choose domain binding, e.g. if your bind www.google.com, all of its sub-domains (*.google.com) will be protected. And there is no limitation to server.
  Server binding will protect all the resource of the resource server, no domain limitation if you choose this option.
  
• Question: What is the difference in Individual Version, Corporation Version and Advanced Corporation Version?

• Question: What are the differences between Trial Version and Final Version?
  Answer: Trial Version has time limit and it cannot be updated. Besides, Trial Version only has part of all the functions that Final Version is providing.
  
• Question: What is the difference between Corporation Enterprise Version and Individual Version?
  Answer: Corporation Enterprise Version provides custom domain to prevent the appointed domain being leeched up to. Individual Version provides custom Server Hardware address which enables all domains of the server have anti-leech protection.
  
  
• Question: My resource host and web shost are separated. I have to purchase two authorizations?
  Answer: No, you only need to purchase one authorization for your resource host.
